A Deeper Life Primer
By: Charles Edward Kayser
“An Antidote To Shallow Living” • “Go and make disciples.” We are all familiar with the charge Jesus left with His disciples before His ascension back to heaven. This book, a discipleship primer, will help the reader fulfill that charge. It is easy to understand and helpful in teaching others or for your own personal growth. Charles Kayser has a long history as a teacher in secondary education and college, as well as teaching and pastoring in Christian churches. He has witnessed first hand a lack of true biblical maturity in the body of Christ that has led so many to a lifetime of shallow living limited to the elementary principles of the Lord. “A Deeper Life Primer” is an antidote to being a “milk drinker” and helps those who want more to go on to maturity to be able to feast on the meat of the Word. “The foundation of discipleship is knowledge of Scripture and trust in its integrity,” Kayser states. He discusses the six elementary principles listed in Hebrews and then goes on to teach about righteousness and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

CHARLES KAYSER grew up on a farm near Americus, Kansas, before continuing on to graduate from The College of Emporia in nearby Emporia, Kansas. Because his high school did not have a football team, a highlight for Charlie was starting for three years on a college team that finished the 1962 and 1963 seasons ranked fourth in the nation.
Charlie holds a Master of Science degree from Emporia State University. Further studies took place at two seminaries: Oral Roberts University Graduate School of Theology and Ministry and Saint Paul School of Theology. These were followed by further graduate study in Education at Kansas State University.
During his years of teaching English and coaching football and wrestling, his involvement as a huddle leader with The Fellowship of Christian Athletes proved to benefit Charles as much or more than it did the athletes. His diverse career included 20 years teaching in secondary education and four years as an adjunct college instructor for Allen County Community College in Kansas, six years of full-time Christian ministry as pastor and evangelist, seven years operating a diversified family farm, and 18 years in sales and sales management.
The years of moving up the football coaching ladder found the Kayser family moving from college to Denver, Colorado, to Emporia, Shawnee-Mission, and Lyons in Kansas. Subsequent employment and education led through Tulsa, Oklahoma, and, in Kansas, Americus again, Randolph, Waterville, Manhattan, Lebo, Olathe, to his present home in Topeka.
Mr. Kayser’s Christian experience began early in his farm home. He suspects that his born-again faith started one of the times when he prayed the sinner’s prayer with Billy Graham on television. His church experience has passed through two denominations, United Methodist and Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, to presently being part of a non-denominational church.
Charles is yet married since 1962 to Patty Kayser, and they have three children, Donald, Bruce, and Sherry. They have enough grandchildren to field one baseball team. Charles is presently active in a discipling ministry and maintains the website: www.WhileWeCan.net.
